In the tourism sector, with the aim of distinguishing the best of the best, 16 years ago Publituris launched a competition called Publituris PortugalTravel Awards, the well-known Oscars of Tourism. This competition is supported by Cascais City Council. This year, the event will take place on September 17th in Cascais, at the Manuel Possolo Hippodrome.
Publituris is a Portuguese magazine that was launched in 1968 and is dedicated to the hotel and tourism market.

This year, the event takes place on September 17th in Cascais, at the Manuel Possolo Hippodrome.
It all started in 1970, when Nuno Rocha (founder of the Publituris newspaper ) and Belmiro Santos jointly organized a competition at the old restaurant “Cota d'Armas”, located in Alfama, to distinguish the best hotels in tourism in Portugal. Unexpectedly, the success of this initiative was that even the then Minister of Information and Tourism of the Estado Novo, César Moreira Baptista and Pedro Pinto were present.
For unknown reasons, this event was left behind. It was only in 2004 that it was held again under the name Publituris Awards. Since then, this event has not lost its conviction and has been growing year after year.
Convento do Espinheiro Historic Hotel & Spa is once again nominated for the Best Boutique Hotel category this year. Last year we were the winners of this same category and this year we are nominated for the same.
A Boutique Hotel is designed and built with the aim of having a specific target audience, which is very exclusive. Therefore, it is normal for many of these hotels to be old buildings, although they have a typical refinement. This detail is a very common feature in hotels of this type. However, inside there is a very elaborate, detailed and exquisite decoration.
Many tourists look for this type of accommodation, they are people who want to experience something special and innovative.
