In the heart of Alentejo you will find a city considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986: Évora.

It is a city rich in history, culture, good cuisine and adventure.

Let's start by talking about what makes this city what it is: its history. This Alentejo city was the center of megalithism during the Neolithic era, and during Roman rule, according to André de Resende, the city was the headquarters of the troops of the Roman general Sertópio, who faced the power of Rome.

Later, the city was elevated to the status of municipality by Julius Caesar, with the name of Ebora Liberalitas Julia. It became the seat of a bishopric, during the Christianization of the peninsula, at the end of the Roman era.

It contains a cultural heritage that is worth visiting, at any time of the year, such as the Museum, the Eugénio de Almeida Art and Culture Centre, the Palace of the Dukes of Cadaval and Church of Lóios, the Convent of Remédios, the Museum of Crafts and Design, Paço de São Miguel, Palace of the Counts of Basto, among others.

Eating and drinking are no less interesting points in the city, quite the opposite. Enjoy Alentejo wine and typical dishes from the region, such as cured cheeses, sausages, olives, bacon, lamb stew, Alentejo açorda, Évora cheesecakes, honey cake and many other delicious dishes.

The more adventurous can find a range of activities, such as skydiving, go-karting, hiking or mountain biking, sailing, canoeing, water skiing, windsurfing and much more.

If you prefer to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the Alentejo, take a stroll through the city centre or enjoy our spa and indoor pool in peace and quiet, as we would have done in the Alentejo.

Have a great stay in Évora and at the Convento do Espinheiro, with incredible experiences, if you haven't visited the city yet. For those who have already been here, it's time to visit us again and remember how pleasant it is to be in the Alentejo region.
