An Unforgettable Christmas with Convento do Espinheiro

As Christmas approaches, you may start to feel anxious just thinking about all the things you’ll have to do, cook and prepare. If you just feel like disappearing, then a Christmas getaway might be just the ticket. More and more Portuguese people are choosing restaurants and hotels for their Christmas Eve and Christmas Day meals. And there are good reasons for this.
At Convento do Espinheiro, in Évora, we have prepared an incredible program for the entire month of December. This program includes special packages, with accommodation and meals, to celebrate Christmas and welcome the New Year with your family.
Thus, we begin the month with a Sunday Mass on December 1st, at the Church of Nossa Senhora do Espinheiro, and a dinner commemorating the Restoration of National Independence, at the Divinus restaurant, with a themed menu evocative of the acclamation of King D. João IV.
On December 8th, at the Olive restaurant, our Chef will share with guests his ancestral knowledge of the art of kneading rustic wheat flour with the yeast from the previous baking process. In this Alentejo bread workshop, each guest literally gets their hands dirty and, just like our Monks did, transforms the fine powder of white flour into a soft, delicious dough.
For those who prefer something sweeter, chef Carla Parreira will be giving a Bolo-Rei workshop at the Olive restaurant, where you can learn how to make your own typically Portuguese cake, a must-have for Christmas Eve. So, we haven't forgotten about the little ones, and on December 22nd there will be a Christmas biscuit workshop that is absolutely unmissable!
On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we highlight our delicious seasonal gastronomic delicacies, which we prepare as tradition dictates.
On Christmas Eve, you can enjoy Mass at the Church of Santa Maria do Espinheiro, a glass of Porto de Honra and a Christmas Eve dinner with drinks included at the Divinus Restaurant. On Christmas Day, enjoy a fabulous Christmas lunch, specially prepared, at the Divinus Restaurant.
As the last night of the year approaches, join us for a night in Havana.
Our New Year's Eve program begins with a cocktail party at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Gala Dinner (D. Vasco Hall), accompanied by a DJ. Marvel at a fabulous fireworks display, and welcome 2020 with dinner and entertainment throughout the night.
